Fantastic result for the Tigers beating our friends from across the bay 8-6 in a real arm wrestle of a match played in dreadful conditions. Looked like the bigger Atoms pack may hold the key to victory but awesome Hindpool defence especially from the Archer brothers and Leo Rooke kept them out and gradually the Tigers began to have the better of the 1st half but with both sides defending as if their lives depended on it half time came with the score still 0-0.

The second half began much the same as the first with the Atoms looking strong and Hindpool as if they were still in the dressing rooms, eventually the pressure told and impressive Heysham stand off Nathan Tait evaded some woeful defence (cant think who missed the tackle) to score a converted try. All credit to Hindpool though they didnt let this set back get to them and they came back stronger. Strong defence against the bigger Atoms pack eventually rewarded the Tigers with the possesion and field position they needed in order to mount a serious attack. After a very patient build up Chris Archer caught the Heysham defence napping and forced his way over in the corner. 4-6 to the Atoms and game on.

Again Hindpool took the game to the visitors but with conditions worsening it looked like the scoring would be over for the afternoon, however a clever Paul Rickelton kick just over half way was collected by Nath Sneesby who set off for the try line with the Atoms defence in pursuit he drew the full back and fed Grant Burns who romped home from 15 yards to score what proved to be the winning try much to the delight of all his team mates.

With time running out Heysham through everything at Hindpool but the defence again proved to be up to the task. It was a shame there had to be a loser as both sides gave it everything they had. Heysham. Hopefully the result will set the platform for the rest of the season.
